After a national search, Prof. Junshan Lin, the C. Harry Knowles Endowed Professor, has been selected as the next Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

Dr. Lin earned a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Michigan State University in 2011. He joined Auburn University as an Assistant Professor in 2013 and earned the rank of Professor in 2023. An expert in applied and computational mathematics with specific emphasis on partial differential equations (PDEs), Dr. Lin brings an extensive record of teaching, research, and extramural funding. Dr. Lin will begin his term as Chair on January 1, 2027.
