On October 11, the College of Sciences and Mathematics, or COSAM, recognized the 2022 Lilly-Lovelace Distinguished Service Award winners at a COSAM staff town hall event held in the Melton Student Center. Each winner was presented with an eagle statue and a check at the event.

“Our staff are often the unsung heroes that hold COSAM together, and I am happy to recognize some of these outstanding individuals,” remarked COSAM Interim Dean Ed Thomas. “These individuals exemplify the outstanding work by staff throughout our college.”

Named in honor of two former COSAM staff members, Eva Lilly and Jan Lovelace, the Lilly-Lovelace Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to individual staff members in COSAM who have demonstrated exemplary service to the college. Lilly provided 42 years of service, primarily in COSAM’s Department of Geosciences, and Lovelace served as an executive support assistant in COSAM’s dean’s office for 13 years. The award was established in 2012 following Lovelace’s retirement.
