For Our Current Students

The Pre-Health Advising Program offers advice and support for freshman to seniors as well as graduates and post doc students.

  • As a freshman you are encouraged to take the Orientation class (SCMH 1890) in the fall of your freshman year.  Students get the opportunity to hear from admissions deans and representatives from allopathic and osteopathic medical schools and from dental, optometry, physical therapy, pharmacy and physician assistant schools. Resources are provided by the Career Center, Academic Support and Peer Advisors as well.
  • What will medical or health professions schools usually look for in your application?
Workshops Help You:
  • assess your competitiveness for professional school
  • improve interviewing skills
  • teach you to write a compelling personal statement
  • encourage you to explore alternative career options
  • prepare for required admission tests

It is important to join and attend Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), the pre-health student organization. Auburn’s chapter is nationally recognized. Subscribe to the AED mailing list to receive important messages about meetings and events and “stay in the loop” in regards to anything pre-health students need to know. Visit the AED website ( for meeting schedules and information about subscribing to the AED mailing list.

AED provides the following opportunities:
  • Meet with representatives from health professions schools
  • Receive information concerning shadowing and community service opportunities
  • Learn about obtaining a “committee letter” preferred by many professional schools
  • Receive information about PPAC (Pre-Professional Advisory Committee)
  • Get help with the complex process of applying to professional school.
  • Have access to student representatives and peer advising
  • Get the latest updates and resources for professional school entrance tests
  • Be inducted into the AED national honor society for qualifying members
