Your Teacher

Your teacher is a wonderful source for you to use for extra help.  The faculty have office hours when they should be available to help students.  Be certain to seek help from your professor just as soon as you have trouble; do not wait until the end of the semester to get help.  It is too late!!   Also, it would be a good idea if you could show the teacher that you at least have been trying.  For example, this would be a good way to approach a teacher: “I understand concept A, but when I try to understand how it relates to concept B, I struggle. Could you help me understand this relationship better?”   On the other hand, this would not be a good approach: “I always did well in high school, but I’ve hardly understood anything you’ve talked about this whole semester.  Can you help me?”   Another poorly thought out question is:  “I really knew the material for the test, but I failed. What do I need to do better?”  Finally, do not seek extra help from the teacher if you have been cutting class frequently.

No one knows the material better than your teacher and nobody knows the emphasis of the tests better than your teacher.  Do not hesitate to use this wonderful, free resource.
