Dr. Robert S. Boyd


Robert S. Boyd Dr. Robert S. Boyd is COSAM’s new Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Previously, he was an alumni professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and Undergraduate Program Officer.

Dr. Boyd’s research interest involves the ecology of metal hyperaccumulation by plants, natural history and management of rare Southeastern plant species.

He received Auburn University’s prestigious Auburn University Gerald and Emily Leischuck Endowed Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching. In 2012, Dr. Boyd was recognized on-field during a football game by the Auburn Alumni Association with the Alumni Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award.

He also has worked with student groups including the Society for Conservation Biology, which takes numerous field trips to share hands-on research experience with its members.

Dr. Boyd graduated with his Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis. He received his master’s and bachelor degrees from California State Polytechnic University.
