Transfer to Auburn

Whether you have a few credits or have your associate's degree, you'll need to verify your transfer credits. The process determines which of your earned credit hours are transferable to Auburn. We may not accept all credits, and certain credits may not count for the same classes.

Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee.*

Verify that your school has sent us your official college transcript.

Upload a copy of your final high school transcript (freshmen transfers only).

ACT and/or SAT scores submitted directly from the testing agency (freshmen transfers only).

*Applicants who are eligible for a Pell grant are eligible to receive a transfer admission application fee waiver. If you would like to request a fee waiver, please download and complete the Transfer Fee Waiver Form. Please use Option 2 for documentation.

Admissions criteria vary based on the total number of transferable hours of college coursework you have completed at the time to plan to enroll at Auburn University. Each category below specifies admissions requirements.

Freshman Transfer (Less than 24 semester hours)

You are a student that has taken some college level work after high school graduation and are interested in transferring to Auburn University. Applicants who have not completed college-level work after high school but have coursework in progress will receive an admissions decision if coursework has been completed and an official transcript is provided by the documents due deadline in the chart listed in dates and deadline section. Transfer (24 semester hours or more)

You are a student that has taken at least 24 hours of college work after graduating from high school at an institution and is transferring credits to Auburn University. To evaluate your transfer courses for potential credit, please visit the Transfer Course Equivalency.

Transfer students who do not meet the minimum requirements for admission will be evaluated using a holistic review. Some factors considered in our additional evaluation include:

• Level of academic achievement, including cumulative transfer GPA based on all transferable college-level courses, attempted, the rigor of curriculum, and consistency in course completion.
• Grades earned and college-level coursework completed at an accredited institution.
• Extenuating circumstances that may have affected students' academic performance
• Grade point average - cumulative and in specific courses related to the student's intended major.
• A pattern of steady improvement in academic performance

Spring: November 23 - Final Admissions Decisions Released

            December 1 - Enrollment Deposit Deadline or 15 days after acceptance

Summer: May 25 - Final Admissions Decisions Released

               June 1 - Enrollment Deposit Deadline or 15 days after acceptance

Fall: July 25 - Final Admissions Decisions Released

        August 1 - Enrollment Deposit Deadline or 15 days after acceptance

Deposits will be closed each deadline.

Additional Deadlines:

October 1: FAFSA* Available Online at studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.   
February 1: FAFSA Priority Deadline for Consideration for Need-Based Scholarships.  
March 1: Financial Aid Priority deadline.

Transfer Online New Student Modules and Priority Registration Deadline

The new student modules will help students complete the transfer plan of study and prepare students to register for classes when their registration time ticket opens. The modules help facilitate communication with academic advisors. Auburn's registration is assigned by specific time tickets based on the number of hours a student has completed.

For spring semesters, time tickets begin opening in early November and for summer and fall semesters, time tickets begin opening in early April. You should complete the new student modules and pay the enrollment deposit by these dates in order to be ready to register when your time ticket opens.

Deadline to Complete New Student Modules:

Summer Term: March 1
Fall Term: March 1
Spring Term: October 1

Completing the modules after these dates may delay a response from an academic advisor. Students should allow at least seven business days for academic advisors to review information.

 *The FAFSA is the only form a student is required to complete to be considered for student assistance from any of the Title IV HEA programs, except for information needed to ensure the student’s eligibility for such assistance (e.g., information needed to complete verification or to demonstrate compliance with the student eligibility provisions of the HEA and the regulations). The Auburn University admissions application can be submitted online at auburn.edu/admissions or through the Common Application. There is no preference given to either application.

Your Personal Data

The personal data that the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Graduate School collect may be shared internally with academic units, Alumni Affairs, and other school officials with a legitimate educational interest. Data may also be shared with third-party partners according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) that we have contracted with to perform services for the institution.

Optional Information

By federal law, the submission of certain information at the time of application for admission is optional. These items include social security number, ethnicity, date of birth and sex. At Auburn University, this information is used for reporting, record keeping and data validation.
