AUBURN UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR TO READ FROM NEW NOVEL

AUBURN -- Judy Troy, Alumni-Writer-in-Residence in the Auburn University Department of English, will read from her novel, From the Black Hills, at AU's Center for the Arts and Humanities on July 6.

The reading will be at 4 p.m. at Pebble Hill, the historic home that houses AU's Center for the Arts and Humanities.

From the Black Hills -- Troy's second novel -- explores the life of a newly graduated high school student, Mike, whose father kills a woman and disappears. The story focuses on how the student deals with the tragedy while a detective befriends him while looking for his father.

Troy also published the novel West of Venus and a collection of short stories, Mourning Doves.

In 1996 she won the prestigious Whiting Writers' Award, which encourages exceptional talent.

Following the reading there will be a reception where Troy will sign copies of her books.
