AU LIBERAL ARTS AWARDS TWO BAR ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS

AUBURN -- The Auburn University College of Liberal Arts has awarded a pair of full-tuition Auburn University Bar Association Scholarships.

The recipients are Derek Ely of Athens, Wis., a sophomore majoring in political science and philosophy, and Mawiyah Hooker of Mobile, a sophomore majoring in liberal arts.

The one-year scholarships are funded by the Auburn University Bar Association.

Members of the AUBA are attorneys who practice throughout the United States, all of whom are Auburn graduates. The non-profit organization provides a network for Auburn attorneys and supports the University's Pre-Law Scholars Program financially and through personal contacts between AUBA members and Auburn pre-law students.

The AUBA president is Cole Portis, a member of the Beasley Allen law firm in Montgomery. Dorothy Wells Littleton, a member of the statewide law firm of Sirote & Permutt, is practitioner-in-residence for the University's Pre-law Scholars Program.

The AUBA awards two full-tuition scholarships annually that are based on achievement and financial need to liberal arts majors who participate in the Pre-Law Scholars Program.
