NOTED WRITER KELLY CHERRY TO SPEAK AT AU'S PEBBLE HILL

AUBURN -- Acclaimed poet and writer Kelly Cherry will read from her latest fiction collection on Nov. 8 at Auburn University's Center for the Arts and Humanities.

Cherry, author of The Society of Friends, will speak at 4 p.m. at Pebble Hill, the historic home which houses the Center for the Arts and Humanities.

The author of more than a dozen books of fiction, poetry and creative non- fiction, Cherry wrote the critically acclaimed memoir The Exiled Heart and Writing the World.

Cherry has given more than 150 readings and writers' conference workshops at Duke University, the University of Washington and Southhampton University.

Since 1977 she has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she is the Eudora Welty Professor of English.
