January 17 - 3:10 p.m.

Campus Safety and Security is closely monitoring the potential for winter weather next week. Potential impacts could start Tuesday and continue through early Wednesday morning.

At this time, no decisions have been made regarding closures or schedule changes.

However, in the event of significant weather and an official Auburn University change in operations, instructional faculty should be prepared to consider remote instruction where they deem appropriate.

The safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains our top priority. We will continue to assess the conditions and provide updates as more information becomes available as we are in regular communication with Lee County EMA and the National Weather Service.

Campus Weather Station to view live weather conditions specific to Auburn's main campus.

Weather Discussion

January 18 - 7:10 p.m.

From the National Weather Service: A Cold Weather Advisory is in place from midnight Sunday and continuing through 11am Monday for Lee County, which includes the Auburn University community.

Temperatures Sunday will start in the 40s and continue falling through the afternoon and evening. While the air temperature will be above freezing most of the day, wind speeds around 10-15 mph will make it feel more like the low 30s. After sunset Sunday, the feels-like temperature will drop into the teens.

By Monday morning, the wind chill, or feels-like temperature, will be in the single digits area-wide. With wind chill values remaining in the teens to 20s much of the day, we strongly encourage you to practice the 5 Ps of winter weather: Protect your pipes, plants, pets, people, and practice fire safety.

We are continuing to monitor the developing winter weather for Tuesday into Wednesday. No changes to our previous messaging have been made, at this time.
