Aubie

Auburn's costumed Tiger mascot is in his 34th season as a spirit leader and goodwill ambassador for Auburn University. A popular character among Auburn fans and one of the more animated mascots in the country, Aubie has been on the job since 1979. His crazy antics and mischievous personality helped transform Aubie into the mascot we all love today. Some of his endeavors, as well as his constant promotion of Auburn spirit, are why Aubie was selected as the #1 collegiate mascot in the entire nation in 1991, 1995, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2006 and 2012 by the Universal Cheerleaders Association.

War Eagle

War Eagle

"War Eagle" is Auburn's battle cry. The most popular origin story dates back to 1892, when Auburn first played Georgia in football. In the stands was a Civil War veteran, who brought with him an eagle he had found in battle, years earlier. Suddenly, the eagle broke free and began circling the field. As it soared, Auburn marched toward the Georgia end zone for a victory. Taking the bird's presence as an omen of success, Auburn students and fans began to yell "War Eagle." At the game's end, the eagle crashed into the ground and died, but the battle cry "War Eagle" lived on.

Toomer's Corner

Toomer's Corner

Toomer’s Corner is where you’ll find the celebration after a big win at Auburn. The intersection of College Street and Magnolia Avenue is where Auburn's campus and the City of Auburn meet. It’s also home to the famed Toomer’s Drugs, where the tradition of rolling the corner is said to have begun. The local drug store had the only telegraph in the city, so when employees received news of an Auburn victory at an away game, they would throw the ticker tape onto the power lines of the intersection. There is no clear consensus on when the tradition changed to throwing toilet paper into the trees.

Bronze Seal

The legend has it that if a student steps on this forbidden seal, they will not graduate in four years and will not marry a fellow Auburn student. Although this is merely a myth, the story is passed along to each generation of incoming classes.

If you are one of the unlucky students to step on the seal, you must reverse the curse. To do so you have to jump in the President’s fountain on the leap day of a leap year. Unfortunately, the next leap year isn’t until 2020. May the Auburn odds be ever in your favor.

Alma Mater

The Auburn Alma Mater was composed by Bill Wood in 1942, with word revision in 1960:
On the rolling plains of Dixie 'neath the sun-kissed sky, Proudly stands our Alma Mater, banners high. To thy name we'll sing the praise, from hearts that love so true, And pledge to thee our loyalty the ages through. We hail thee, Auburn, and we vow to work for thy just fame, And hold in memory as we do now thy cherished name.
