Dear Faculty Colleagues,
I am writing with this week’s update as we continue the careful work of transition in academic governance and related University processes.
A central priority during this period is to ensure that the University’s ongoing academic, administrative, and student-facing responsibilities continue with consistency and appropriate care. Accordingly, the following University committees will continue their work during this transition period:
-
Academic Integrity Committee
-
Central Unit Allocations Committee
-
Enrollment Management Council
-
Faculty Dismissal Hearing Committee
-
Graduation Committee
-
Patent and Invention Disclosure Committee
-
Persons with Disabilities Committee
-
Post-Tenure Review Committee
-
Promotion and Tenure Committee
-
Student Academic Grievance Committee
-
Student Conduct Committee
-
University Budget Advisory Committee
-
University Professorships Committee
-
University Safety Committee
These committees support essential University functions, including academic integrity, faculty review and advancement, student conduct and grievance processes, enrollment and budget planning, safety, accessibility, and institutional governance. Their continued service will help sustain the University’s work while structures for faculty academic consultation are further developed and aligned with recently adopted Board policies.
As noted in last week’s update, the name, composition, structure, scope, and responsibilities of university committees remain subject to review and may be revised as needed to align with Board policy, presidential direction, and the University’s academic and operational needs. During this period, however, the work of these committees remains necessary and deeply appreciated. Committee chairs have been contacted, will receive additional guidance as needed, and will continue to keep their members informed.
Following a comprehensive review of syllabus management solutions and benchmarking with peer institutions, Auburn University has selected Simple Syllabus as the official University syllabus repository beginning Fall 2026. Widely used among peer institutions, Simple Syllabus offers strong support, flexibility, and seamless integration with Canvas and Banner. With support from the Biggio Center, the platform will be integrated directly into Canvas, providing faculty and students with a more streamlined, user-friendly experience. For more information and updates, please refer to the Syllabus Success website. Additional details regarding the timeline, training, resources, and general support will be shared in the coming weeks.
The first meetings of the Ad Hoc Transition Advisory Team and the Executive Rules and Steering Sub-Council are scheduled for next week. Faculty who wish to offer suggestions or share comments with either group may do so through the following:
