Jordan Harshman, assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, will be part of a panel for a webinar by the American Chemical Society titled, "Preparing Students for Collaborative Work Beyond Graduation" occurring on Thursday, April 15 at 2 p.m. EST.

"I’m excited to be a part of this panel because we (chemistry and more broadly science faculty) can easily get so focused on teaching our discipline that we more or less assume professional skills like communication and collaborative work will sort 'naturally' develop. There’s a good chunk of research out there to suggest this may not be the case and that more and more chemistry employers are looking for these professional skills, to the point where some value the professional skills more than science content knowledge. The webinar is a great avenue to reach a wide audience and talk about the challenge of emphasizing professional skills while simultaneously teaching our content to the fullest rigor," Harshman explained.

This webinar is part of a series by ACS with attendance around 500 people. If you are interested in virtually attending, register online for this free webinar.
