WHY?

WHY SHOULD YOU PURSUE A DEGREE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

Physics is a fascinating subject. Earning a degree will provide you with a solid foundation to understand how the physical world works and how to look beyond obvious, standard answers.

At Auburn University, the Department of Physics provides small classes and individualized attention. Our Honors introductory physics sequence has enrollment of approximately 50 students, and our upper level classes are even smaller for a more engaging student experience.

Earning a bachelor’s degree in physics will help you develop tremendous problem-solving skills becoming a scientist and lifelong learner. You will be able to work with passionate faculty that are eager to share their knowledge and insights.

You will also have incredible opportunities for research. Undergraduate students help faculty in their laboratories and with their research. These projects often lead to refereed journal publications.

Moreover, the new Leach Science Center is a world-class, core research facility. This 62,000 square-foot, $24 million expansion provides state-of-the-art technology with welcoming study areas filled with natural light and even places to easily charge your devices.
