11 to 18 March & 4-12 August 2002 Under the auspices of a USAID-CRSP grant, conducted research in Brazil regarding liming of commercial fish ponds.

Under the auspices of a USAID-CRSP grant, attended Bernard Meso’s M.S. defense.  As an adjunct professor at the University of Nairobi, I was Meso’s project director. His M.S. work was part of my USAID-CRSP grant regarding use of aquacultural effluents as irrigation/nutrient sources for crops in Kenya.

25 June to 2 July 2000 Under the auspices of a USAID-CRSP grant, conducted research in the Philippines regarding nutrient cycling in soils beneath commercial fish ponds.

13-17 December 1999 Traveled to Haiti to collect soil and plant samples from agroforestry research sites initiated in 1991. The work was supported by USAID.

6-14 September 1999 Under the auspices of a USAID-CRSP grant, conducted research in Thailand regarding nutrient cycling in soils beneath commercial fish ponds.

25 April to 6 May 1999 Under the auspices of a USAID-CRSP grant, reviewed ongoing research in Kenya regarding use of aquacultural effluents as irrigation/nutrient sources for crops.

22-30 September 1998 Presented an invited paper at the Global Change in Terrestrial Ecosystems workshop on the Isle of Capri, Italy that was sponsored by the European Cooperative in Science and Technical Research.

2-6 August 1997 Conducted review of research regarding maize-jackbean intercropping in Chiapas Mexico.

2-19 February 1997, 24 April to 1 May 1997, 27 August to 9 September 1997,  16-29 August 1998 Under the auspices of a USAID-CRSP grant, conducted research in Thailand, Honduras, Kenya, and Peru regarding nutrient cycling in soils beneath commercial fish ponds.

29 September to 4 October 1996 Traveled to Haiti to plan future research collaborations, and to collect soil and plant samples from agroforestry research sites initiated in 1991.

19 through 28 January 1996 Conducted research regarding loss of ammonia-N from land applied urea in cooperation with Mexican scientists at the Veracruz campus of Colegio de Postgraduados.

27 July to 30 August 1995 Under auspices of the USDA-OICD Scientific Exchange Program,  I traveled to Lincoln University on New Zealand's South Island.  There I conducted research on NH3, CH4 and N2O fluxes from land applied manure in cooperation with  Kiwi, Aussie and Danish scientists.

20 to 24 June 1995 Represented Auburn University at Colegio de Postgraduados in Montecillo, Mexico to establish links between graduate programs.

14 Jan. to 4 Feb. 1994 Worked on curriculum development at the All Russian Agricultural College in Zargorsk, Russia. The goal was to help professors at the college develop new courses and programs oriented toward sustainable agriculture. The venture was supported by USAID.

19 Aug. to 10 Sep. 1993 In New Zealand, provided invited lectures to Crown Institute (formerly AgResearch) scientists (at five different research installations) and faculty/staff at Massey University and Lincoln University. The lectures were oriented towards environmentally sound use of organic fertilizers.

13 to 24 Aug. 1991 Advised on setup for nutrient cycling studies at several agroforestry research sites in Haiti. USAID provided funding for the venture.
