Action Plan
As
president of our company I am personally excited about our new company growth.
Because of this we have decided to create a new company wide strategic
plan that incorporates the goals and values of each department of the company.
These goals must have objectives involving all employees and are
performance based for evaluation purposes.
The
plan shall be spear headed by JDF Consulting.
I do not wish to have any bias or “fear of change” formality to
affect this new course of action. With
the help of the consultant, teams formed within each department will create and
submit objectives and goals that will then be incorporated into the company wide
plan by the business team comprised of the consultant and top management.
Please remember that simplicity is the key to a good plan.
Envision this document more like a value statement and career goal
project then some stuffy paperweight. This
plan will be a working document only if objectives are clear, concise, and
simple in statement yet challenging to each individual to perform to his or her
best ability.
As President, I am committed
to working with each employee during the development phase of the project and
will continue to evaluate my own ability to meet the goals of the plan as the
year progresses. I pledge to you
that this company will have my support in the following areas:
·
Ensuring a process
for defining strategic direction and priorities.
·
Allocating resources
(dollars, volunteer time, staff time) against these strategic directions and
priorities.
·
Evaluating
effectiveness and efficiency of the firm’s people, systems, and strategies in
terms of achieving the defined strategic direction and priorities.
· Leadership will lead by example and fully participate in the implementation process by setting goals that are performance based and expect a full evaluation of their performance.
Thanks to our new business
development staff’s hard work, the company is poised for growth in the Game
Day Condominium Market. We have
been contacted and awarded exclusive rights for building these condominiums for
the BIG TEN collegiate conference. Due to this growth we will be speaking with
commercial bankers, researching the best banking system in which to receive a
construction loan for building a new branch office in Chicago, Illinois as well
as receiving equipment financing for the purchase of new equipment as this
multi-year project will require a substantial inventory.
As President, I have been speaking with both community banks in our home
market as well as in the Chicago area. In
addition, I have been reviewing national banks, including our company bank to
find the best rate and holdings systems for this new venture.
I am currently looking at what percentage of liquid capital banks require
our company to have on hand before lending, as well as establishing
relationships with several of the bank’s commercial lending departments and
their construction consultant or building inspector. It will be vital that our company becomes comfortable and
welcomed into each new environment and a strong relationship with a known bank
will help us with that.
In addition to the financing
situation, a committee has been formed to create a new team of project managers
and superintendents for this project. We
will be evaluating workload, experience, and individual preferences before
choosing who will be asked to travel and begin the first condominium at the
University of Michigan. Please feel
free to stop by my office to express any concerns or issues you might have
before December 16, 2000.
Due to this growth and
nature of the industry, we will be pressured to promote several office engineers
and field engineers to become project mangers and superintendents.
I know that experience is the best tool for learning but as a company we
have been committed to a strong mentor program where training is a key
component. This growth has now led
the company to issue in a new learning objective.
Each new hire as well as all office engineers and field engineers will be
enrolled in our Project Management Office Class that incorporates a construction
management software system into a three week course on project management
issues, tips for success, and is completed by having each employee work through
a small construction project from start to finish as a project manager.
This final will take an additional month.
I do not want our new growth to effect the excellent quality management
and supervision our company is known for, so all employees enrolled in this
class will be expected to participate each afternoon for the allotted time
period. Because this will
temporarily deplete our manpower we will also be hiring experienced project
managers and superintendents to help us sustain our growth and quality.
This will not effect your position with the company.
It was been reviewed and analyzed that our capacity will continue to grow
and all personal are and will be needed.
Good luck on your course
work. Before purchasing the
software, I participated in a training course and found it to be a very
challenging and enjoyable experience. I
am proud of our company, and gladly acknowledge that each employee has
contributed to our success.
