  1. Start PowerPoint
  2. Blank Presentation, OK
  3. Blank Slide, OK
  4. Format -> Slide Color Scheme -> Custom (choose your background color), Apply to All (note: you may apply to "this slide only" if you want different background colors)
  5. Insert -> either Picture or Text box to "decorate"
  6. Insert -> New Slide (blank slide) or Insert ->Duplicate Slide if you want the same layout.
  7. Continue Steps 5-7 until all slides are done. Make sure that you have one slide before the listening selection starts that says, "Click the mouse as soon as you hear the music start."
  8. Insert -> Movies and Sounds -> Play CD Audio Track (set the start and end times) (NOTE: MAKE SURE THERE IS ONLY ONE PLAY CD BUTTON IN THE SLIDE SHOW OR THINGS WILL NOT WORK...IF YOU HAVE THIS PROBLEM, GO BACK AND ERASE ALL PLAY CD BUTTONS AND START HERE AGAIN)
  9. Slide Show -> Custom Animation -> Timing -> highlight the Play CD object in the list ->Start Animation, Automatically, 0 seconds.
  10. Slide Show -> Custom Animation (highlight the object in the list) -> Play Settings (or Multimedia Settings), While playing,Continue slide show; Stop Playing, After x slides -> OK (Use the total number of slides for x)
  11. Slide Show -> Set up Show -> Presented by a speaker, Advance slides using timings, if present
  12. Slide Show -> Slide Transition -> on mouse click
  13. Slide Show -> Rehearse Timings (click to advance at proper times--remember to click on the NEXT button you created when the music starts) -> Yes -> Yes
  14. Now in the slide sorter view, click on any slide that you don't want auto timings, such as the one with the Play CD object and go to Slide Show -> Slide Transition -> on mouse click, Apply to this slide only
