Course Description: An overview of applications of current technology in music classrooms,
studios, and offices.
Course Objectives:
The student will be able to:
I. describe the structure of hardware and software components used in music instruction.
II. evaluate and select hardware and software for music instruction.
III. produce and access materials for music instruction using digital tools.
IV. develop proposals for integrating current technology into music education programs.
V. evaluate music instructional technology products and systems.

VIII.Sound synthesis, sampling, & editing
IX. Music notation desktop publishing

Course Requirements:
I. participation in class activities, presentations, and online discussions
II. two tests administered through the Internet
III. submit examples of music instructional media produced with digital tools
IV. submit a final proposal for integrating current technology into music education
program including related research literature
Grading System:
| Grade | A = 100-91 | Requirement I = 10%
|
| B = 90-81 | II = 30%
|
| C = 80-71 | III = 30%
|
| D = 70-61 | IV = 30%
|
Instructor may deduct points for or refuse to accept late assignments due to timely
nature of topic.
Class Policy Statements:
Students are expected to attend every class and participate in class discussions and
projects unless excused ahead of time by instructor. It is the student's responsibility
to make up missed work by the next class meeting and to obtain class notes, handouts, etc., from other students. Internet quizzes are available only during specified
testing periods.
