Find something neat on the Web to share with our class concerning Computer Applications in Music. If you are not sure how to use email on mallard, see the AU Technology Hotline or talk to an LRC employee. Send the email to Dr. Walls at kim.walls@mail.auburn.edu.



A Concert Program

In this project, you will learn how to use basic word processing skills such as alignment, text formatting, and tabs. The assignment is for Macintosh Claris Works, but you may wish to download the files, open them on a Mac, and save as PC files to use on a PC. First, click here to download a tutorial. Double-click on your floppy disk icon, then double-click on the file Works.Tutorial to start Works and to view the tutorial. Read and follow the instructions. Turn in your printout in to Dr. Walls' mailbox before the next class meeting.



Database and Mail Merge

In this project, you will learn how to use basic database skills such as entering and sorting data and how to create a form letter. First, click here to download a tutorial. Then, click here to download a form letter and click here to download a database. Double-click on your floppy disk icon, then double-click on the file Merge and Database Tutorial to start Works and to view the tutorial. Read and follow the instructions. Add your printout to your portfolio and bring to class.

Scanners, Digital Cameras, and Graphics Projects
We will split into 4groups and explore using scanners, digital cameras and graphics programs to create visual  media.



Simple Note Entry Chorale or Alternate Small Score Project

Important Info About Portfolio
Your final portfolio will contain projects done in class and outside class assignments.  You are welcome to make appropriate substitutions for class and outside class assignments.  Each substituted project should be accompanied by the Alternate Assignment page as found on the Experiencing Music Technology CD-ROM.  Bring your portfolio to each class to facilitate sharing of ideas.  So far, the required components are:
