Research Interest
My primary research focus is to develop, implement and assess behavioral physical activity and exercise interventions. Specifically, I examine the mediating effects of targeted theoretical constructs on physical activity participation. Current projects include: Determinants of exercise behavior in college females, measurement of free living physical activity in preschool children and college students, development of programs to increase physical activity in college students and using technology to increase exercise adherence.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe effective teaching is an interactive process between the students and the teacher. Each student brings his or her own perspective, experiences, knowledge and insights into the classroom. Therefore, I encourage each student to actively assimilate new information and experiences that promote skill development and support comprehension.
