I am in the Army National Guard and part of the 1128 th Transportation Company and we were activated February 10, 2003 for Operation Enduring Freedom which was changed to Operation Iraqi Freedom after the invasion. I landed in Kuwait 15 minutes before the U.S. invaded Iraq and left one year later.

During an actual Iraqi Scud attack

Sandstorm
Inside one of the warehouses at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. We had to put on our complete chemical suit each time we had a scud attack because we did not know if they carried chemical warheads. There were 32 attacks total. The first night there were 12. This was after being on a plane for 24 hours and jet lagged. The tent with the Auburn flag is the one I worked in most of the time. Truckville, Kuwait. It was the companies office. During the sand storms it was hard to breath sometimes. Something over your face and eye protection were a necessity. It was 120 degrees plus during the sandstorm and hotter when there was not one. Behind me to the left you can see the chow hall tents. The shadow that is behind me that goes to the right side is the line for lunch. Lines were common.

Me and my truck in the deseret

Defending the truck

This was the truck that I drove all the time. I put more than 50,000 miles on that truck in one year.

Defending a piece of the desert by the Iraq and Kuwait border.

Shooting out a truck window is nothing new to someone who lives in Alabama. :)
