Retail Electric
Competition in Alabama?
A copy of this research project is
available on request.
The bottom line of this research project is that it would not
be wise for Alabama to rush into retail competition. The price of electricity
is low in Alabama due to its resource base of coal and natural gas, and due to
nuclear generation. Retail competition would open the interstate market with
customers in Georgia buying their electricity from Alabama, pushing up the
price in Alabama.
