Bulletin Description:

CALCULUS WITH BUSINESS APPLICATIONS 1 (4). Pr., high school geometry, second year algebra. Calculus (derivatives, integrals, Fundamental Theorem) focused on business applications with introductory material on algebra (including exponential and logarithmic functions).

For students in the College of Business and not open, except by special permission of the Department of Mathematics, to students in engineering or to the mathematics or physics majors.

Credit for MATH1610 or MATH1617 or MATH1710 precludes credit for MATH1680.

Objectives:

To develop student mathematical and analytic skills in algebra and calculus. To present the fundamental concepts of calculus. To develop student understanding and skills necessary for the applications of calculus to the study of business and related areas. Approximately the first fourth of the course is devoted to material on pre-calculus algebra including definitions and properties of logarithmic and exponential functions.
