Auburn Autism Training 2003

Who Should Attend? Professionals and Parents interested in improving intervention outcomes for children with autism.

What Training Will Be Offered? An Integrated Model of Pivotal Response Intervention to include:

· Identified Pivotal Areas
· Incidental Teaching (prompting, strategies, building independence)
· Visual Communication Supports (including PECS and Social Stories)
· Practice/Work Station (components, task development)
· Direct Teaching (including discrete trials)

Training will also include:

· Autism Research Update (diagnosis, etiology, prevalence)
· Data Collection Procedures
· Toilet Training
· Behavior Management
· Family Perspectives
· Autism Legislation and Law Review
· Alternative and Controversial Practices Review

Training will include classroom instruction as well as observation of the model program as implemented in the Auburn Autism Summer Clinic.

When? Monday – Friday sessions will be offered weeks of June 9th and 16th 2003

Where? Yarbrough Elementary School in Auburn, Alabama

Cost? Tuition and most expenses for teachers, school professionals, and parents provided by Alabama State Department of Education (2 per school district if space available).
