General Mechanisms for Condensation Reactions in Chapter 23
1. Adlol Condensation

To write the products of the aldol condensation, simply draw a bond between the alpha carbon of one molecule to the carbonyl carbon of the other molecule. Convert this carbonyl to an OH.

The Claisen Condensation

To write the products of the Claisen condensation, simply draw a bond between the alpha carbon of one molecule to the carbonyl carbon of the other molecule. Remove the OR from this carbonyl carbon.
