SGA Senate passes Parking Resolution

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

On Monday, September 24, the SGA student senate unanimously passed the following resolution.  The resolution was sent to Auburn Administration concerning the parking situations on Auburn’s campus.

Whereas, parking is a serious concern of the Auburn University student; Whereas, the university has taken an active stance to address these issues in the hiring of Carl Walker Parking;Whereas, student input is essential to the effectiveness of any solution presented;

Therefore be it resolved, the Student Government Association thanks the Auburn Administration for their proactive efforts in addressing current traffic and parking issues on Auburns campus;

Therefore be it further resolved, the Student Government Association sincerely appreciates the current trend toward open communication between the student body and administration on future development opportunities;

Therefore be it further resolved, the Student Government Association expects and anticipates substantial cooperation between student representation and Carl Walker Parking throughout the entire planning process.

With this stated, what parking changes would you like to see on this campus?

How long do you need between classes?

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

So, we have had some debate as of late as to the proper amount of time that a student needs between each class.  Would you rather sacrifice that 15 minutes in the morning and start class at the God-forsaken time of 7:45 a.m. to be able to make it to your classes on time?  If we added five minutes between MWF classes, sure we would have strange starting times, but would it be worth it to arrive non-asthmatic? There are pros and cons to this new idea.  I want to know what you think!  Should we have 15 minutes between classes on MWF?  Do you have problems making it on time?  What’s your story?

Parking Forum

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

Good news!  There will be a Parking Forum held on Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 7:30-9:30 in FOY 217. The administrators from Campus Planning as well as Parking and Transit Services will be in attendance answering questions and asking for student opinions on new parking regulations and future/possible parking zone changes. Please realize what an important issue this is on Auburn’s campus, and what an impact you can have on it! You have a voice. Please do not forget to use it :) When our administrators see that we care, and that we have opinions, and especially that we are willing to give up our most valuable resource… TIME… to come to this forum: I GUARANTEE THAT THEY WILL LISTEN! Please make every effort to attend. You will not regret it.
