SGA Sound Off http://www.auburn.edu/~sga/soundoff This page is an information outlet to and from the Auburn University SGA. Sat, 03 Feb 2007 19:45:52 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.0.4 en Organization Code of Laws Changes http://www.auburn.edu/~sga/soundoff/?p=33 http://www.auburn.edu/~sga/soundoff/?p=33#comments Sat, 03 Feb 2007 19:45:52 +0000 Kelly Roper Auburn News http://www.auburn.edu/~sga/soundoff/?p=33  Here is a summary of the changes to be presented Monday night:

Chapter 300:
-O-board must publish a list of every organization and their status to the student senate at the end of each semester.  (This forces O-board to remain up-to-date on organizations’ status, and also makes it clear to organizations).

Chapter 500 (Definition Name-Changes) (These are to make definitions clearer for future organizations).
-Definition Change from “Permanently Chartered” to “Chartered”
-Change from “Probationary Chartered” to “Provisional”
-Change from “Temporarily Inactive” to “Probationary”
-Change from “Permanently Inactive” to “Inactive”

Chapter 500.2:
-The annual requirements for orgs to remain active are now listed.
-Organizations must now submit a tax ID number, and both the advisor and either the president or treasurer must co-sign on banking issues.  (This prevents the embezzling of funds).

Chapter 501.9
-The bill presented to Senate must read exactly as is written in the Constitution.  (In the handbook, the number of words for a purpose statement will be capped at 300.  This prevents excessively long purposes, and prevents an organization from being misrepresented from cutting-and-pasting).

Chapter 600
-Schools councils are not registered organizations and cannot apply for O-funds.

Chapter 810:
-Increase in the o-fund from $3,000/year to $15,000/year.  Organizations may apply for 5% of the fund at any O-board meeting, or up to 40% of the fund at the O-fund hearing which will take place once each semseter.
-The O-fund can be expanded through a program expansion request through the Treasurer of SGA.

Update http://www.auburn.edu/~sga/soundoff/?p=31 http://www.auburn.edu/~sga/soundoff/?p=31#comments Fri, 26 Jan 2007 19:28:58 +0000 admin Auburn News http://www.auburn.edu/~sga/soundoff/?p=31 Hello again!  I apologize that it has been a while since the last post.  I just wanted to give a quick update on some current projects.

It’s official!  The tranist GPS system, Trans-Loc, Inc. has received Auburn University’s payment, and the ninety day turnaround time period began officially on January 24, 2007.  We will be up and running on this system soon! (See previous posts for more information)

There are only a few weeks left in our terms. I am sad to see that the time has gone by so quickly.  Before you know it, our campus will be bombarded with those running for office for 2007-2008!  There are lots of amazing candidates… so just get ready for the campaign period of a lifetime!  Good luck!

Miss Auburn University prelims started last night.  I was fortunate enough to help out backstage and get to know these wonderful ladies.  I cannot believe how talented they all are!  The finals are tonight at 7 p.m.  You should come!  I am almost certain that the new Miss Alabama will come from Auburn University!

In Response to recent requests http://www.auburn.edu/~sga/soundoff/?p=28 http://www.auburn.edu/~sga/soundoff/?p=28#comments Thu, 02 Nov 2006 03:47:15 +0000 admin Auburn News Student Concerns SGA Executive Officers Annah Grace Barclift http://www.auburn.edu/~sga/soundoff/?p=28 A few days ago, someone asked that this site move toward letting students post opinons and concerns on Soundoff. While that is certainly a good idea, SGA Soundoff was not designed to be a message board. This is a content management system… a way in which the SGA can deliver relevant information to the students quickly. We are allowing for your feedback on these issues by displaying the comment option.
While you may certainly publish your opinions through the comment option….If, at any time, you want to discuss an issue with your senators, you are encouraged to email them. Their email addresses are located on the SGA Senate page of this site. They are also located on the SGA website here.

I suppose you may also post through a senator if you so desire. Senators post through their committee heads. We set soundoff up this way to create a check/balance so we could ensure that all the information on here was relevant and factual to maintain the integrity of the SGA. Thank you for your input! Your opinion matters greatly to us. If you still think that students should be able to post…or have any other opinions on how to make this better just let us know. We’re always open for suggestions.
