Tiger Transit Resolution

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006
The Student Government Association Senate passed the following Resolution unanimously on Monday, November 6.   The Trans-Loc Transit Visualization system is currently operating well at North Carolina State University.  I viewed the system personally this summer.  I can certainly vouch for its accuracy, but if you would like to see the system for yourself, please check out NC State’s Wolf Line.  Please read and respond to the following resolution.

In Response to recent requests

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

A few days ago, someone asked that this site move toward letting students post opinons and concerns on Soundoff. While that is certainly a good idea, SGA Soundoff was not designed to be a message board. This is a content management system… a way in which the SGA can deliver relevant information to the students quickly. We are allowing for your feedback on these issues by displaying the comment option.
While you may certainly publish your opinions through the comment option….If, at any time, you want to discuss an issue with your senators, you are encouraged to email them. Their email addresses are located on the SGA Senate page of this site. They are also located on the SGA website here.

I suppose you may also post through a senator if you so desire. Senators post through their committee heads. We set soundoff up this way to create a check/balance so we could ensure that all the information on here was relevant and factual to maintain the integrity of the SGA. Thank you for your input! Your opinion matters greatly to us. If you still think that students should be able to post…or have any other opinions on how to make this better just let us know. We’re always open for suggestions.

This Year’s “Holiday Tree Lighting”

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

We formed a committee this past summer to review the event that has been known as the “Holiday Tree Lighting.”  That committee took its work seriously and generated a report that includes a number of recommendations.

The recommendations were made after holding two open forums and receiving correspondence from concerned parties.  The overall consensus suggests that some recognition needs to be given to the fact that there is a Christmas tree being lit during the event.  This idea was consistent across the multiple individuals that comprised various religious views and took the opportunity to speak at the open forum.  It was the finding of the committee that this recognition should be respected.  As a result, the event will include “The Lighting of the Christmas tree.”

The committee also discussed the name of the event.  After considering all of the feedback and ideas for the name of the event the committee concluded that the name should be “A Holiday Celebration.”  I support the committee’s recommendation.  As well as having a new name, the event will also have new activities that will enhance the experience for all that are participating.

I would like to thank the members of the committee in taking on this task.  What was asked of them was both time consuming and difficult to do.  I appreciate their consultation during this decision making process

Parking Forum

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

Good news!  There will be a Parking Forum held on Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 7:30-9:30 in FOY 217. The administrators from Campus Planning as well as Parking and Transit Services will be in attendance answering questions and asking for student opinions on new parking regulations and future/possible parking zone changes. Please realize what an important issue this is on Auburn’s campus, and what an impact you can have on it! You have a voice. Please do not forget to use it :) When our administrators see that we care, and that we have opinions, and especially that we are willing to give up our most valuable resource… TIME… to come to this forum: I GUARANTEE THAT THEY WILL LISTEN! Please make every effort to attend. You will not regret it.
