Famous photographers using Digital

I think the argument between digital and film photography has reached its end. Digital cameras win in favor of commercial photography and film-based photography may have a ‘one-up’ as far as making a work of art (exhibition standard) goes.

To put it in a nutshell, business related usage of photography requires digitization of an image somewhere along the whole publication process. Shooting digital saves the whole team some time and money.

Lennart Nillson

Let’s look at the extraordinary images of Mr. Lennart Nillson – at a senior age, this man is at the cutting edge of technology itself. His pioneering photography of unborn fetuses has earned him an immortal image, and a name that we wont forget in a hurry! His usage of fiber optic technology with digital cameras has made it possible for him to make some breathtaking photographs. Do google search his name to see some of his work. Nillson is a fine example to remember when someone tells you that photographers who have mastered film photography ‘don’t want to get into digital’ – this man has seen the dawn of the digital era and used it to his advantage!

Scott Highton

Have you ever made an interactive virtual reality 360 degree panorama (this was popularized by apple)? Any photographer who specializes in this type of photography uses digital as his or her medium. Scott Highton is a photographer well known for his captivating 3d images.. Virtual reality is a fine example of how the digital camera has not only made photography a faster process from shoot to print, but has also taken it further in terms of an art form, and helped us create a whole new avenue of photography.

Donovan Wylie

Magnum photographer Donovan Wylie says that since he has started using digital, his business has been more profitable than ever before in his 15-year career.

One can give endless examples of famous photographers switching over to digital, and that’s because it makes more sense for a commercial photographer, saves him or her time and money, and what’s more, adds to the creativity as well. With digital cameras and software like Photoshop a photographer has far more control over the whole process of image creation, color corrections and the final print subsequently.

There isnt a serious commercial photographer who doesn’t consider digital – maybe all haven’t accepted it yet, but everyone has a cautious eye on the digital market anyway. That’s because its serious business! As said before, maybe the only way a digital cannot match a film camera could be the department of conventional artistic black and white photography. That’s because with traditional black and white you can get varied results using color filters – that’s a whole different approach.
