| The Auburn University horn studio is hosting this music at our site as a service to the community of horn players. We are grateful to Mr. Watkins for creating original works for our instrument, and for sharing them with us in this way. We have provided the music in several formats to make it available to the widest possible audience. If it is your first time here please read the information the composer has provided on the uses of his music and his bio, then select the format you prefer from the list below. | |||||

THE MUSIC |
|||||
| The only thing that the music on this
page has in common, apart from the composer, is that there is in every
piece either a dominant or at least significant role for the horn. There
will be music for Wind quintet, Brass quintet, Horn and piano, Horn and
strings Horn quartet etc. If there is anything that you would like particularly
please let me know Watkins@T-Online.de. The more specific you are the
more likely I am to be able to write what you are looking for. Most of the music here is original. There will be a few arrangements but these will generally be of works not otherwise available for the instruments for which they are arranged. The music on this page is available for free download on the acceptance of a few simple conditions.
I should like to express my sincerest thanks to William Schaffer and
Auburn University for hosting this project for me. |

THE COMPOSER |
|||||
| Stephen Watkins was born in 1954
in Tripoli. His father was a trombone player in the Welsh Guards Band.
Steve is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music in London where he
studied, among other things, trombone with Denis Wick and composition
with Patric Standford. A series of medical and artistic crises have led through a number of instruments and he now considers himself a composer/conductor who plays horn, piano violin and recorder. Currently Steve is Director of a Music School run for the children of British forces based in Germany. |
