The Persistent Issues in History (PIH) Network
The Persistent Issues in History (PIH) Network seeks to develop
and support a community of master teachers who are skilled in engaging their
students in problem-based historical inquiry (PBHI). We believe that
pre-collegiate history study should develop citizens who can critically weigh
evidence for historical claims and use content knowledge generated from sound
historical analysis to inform their decisions about enduring societal
questions.
Based at Auburn University, the PIH Network reflects the Auburn
Social Science Education programÕs focus on organizing social studies around
fundamental, enduring societal questions. We work with our technology partners
at Indiana University to provide the resources and support that pre-service and
in-service teachers need to engage in problem-based inquiry teaching.
