Proposal 1: Oak Grove Mall

Many residents like the idea of a large scale shopping mall being in the area. Currently Estoria does not have any large shopping areas and selection of stores in the city is quite limited. Many residents drive to the near by city of Brookview to do their big shopping, which is 40 minutes away. Having a close convenient shopping mall close by is very attractive. Aside from the convenience to shoppers, the Mall would also bring with it many well needed new jobs to stimulate the economy in Estoria.Opponents of the plans argue that a shopping mall would cause traffic problems for the city transit system and that the crowded shopping mall would devalue the neighboring residential and forest areas.

Proposal 2: Big Falls Creek Residential Community

Because of the rapid growth Estoria is currently experiencing, building a beautiful scenic community over looking Big Falls Creek is a very attractive plan for contractors and real estate agencies. It would be a great opportunity to help increase the size of the city and attract new residents. Opponents again argue about traffic and overcrowding.

Proposal 3: Estoria Community College

The city of Estoria does not currently have a Community College. Most students looking to go to College either leave for a big University or commute to Brookview Community College. The many benefits of a local community college are apparent, but it would also mean a hefty increase in city taxes to help fund the institution, and once again brings up traffic issues.

Proposal 4: The Jefferson Corp. Paper Mill

The Jefferson Corporation is currently looking to build a brand new state-of-the-art paper mill some where in Indiana. The new facility would have great economic benefits for Estoria and also create much-needed jobs. Although many like the idea of the Jefferson Corp. moving to Estoria there is also heavy opposition to it due to environmental issues.

Proposal 5: The Big Falls Creek Recreational Park

The final proposal is to make the land into a public recreational park. For a long time now many residents have been asking for a public park. Its location next to Big Falls Creek and the neighboring forest area makes the spot a perfect choice for a park. Because Big Falls Creek would be owned and maintained by the city, taxes would have to be raised to fund the project.
