Introduction Fishes of Georgia Conservation and Current Issues More Info Links
Listed here are the endangered species of fish found in the state of Georgia. They are listed by family and arranged in  phylogenetic order (arranged according to their evolutionary relationships), and the species accounts are listed alphabetically. I will follow Nelson (2006) for their order.

Currently there are 56 species which are recognized as being imperiled on some level within the state of Georgia. This number will increase in the coming years considering the explosive population growth throughout Georgia.

It should be noted that the names seen here may change, so updates will be ongoing as the literature changes.

I use a simple system to identify a species' level of imperilment (status):

T= Threatened  or    E= Endangered   or   R= Rare
                                   followed by
S= State Recognized  or    F= Federally Recognized
