I was born in Munster, Indiana, where my parents, J. Paul and Beverly, had settled in the 1950's. I studied both the social and the biological sciences in college, eventually attaining a Master's Degree in environmental science. However, my work career took me in other directions; I found myself gaining experience in personnel-related fields, and for a number of years was Personnel Specialist for NBD Highland Park Bank in Illinois.

During these years, I also began building a family. The marriage didn't work out, but the children did. Brian (Dylewski) graduated from Auburn University in 2002. and Lindsey graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2004. Both are fine young people.

After relocating in Auburn, Alabama in 1989, I became employed with Auburn University Libraries, again in the position of Human Resource Associate. It was there that I met my husband, Jack Fitzpatrick, when he was an aging undergraduate at AU. We were married in August of 1995.
