Group Projects
http://www.auburn.edu/~oldschr/mn4800 - Manage a company that developed
microprocessors using the Capstone marketing strategy game,
http://www.capsim.com. This simulation taught us how to manage resources, and how
to judge whether to invest in employee Total Quality Management for employee
satisfaction, or in Research for a future job market.
http://www.auburn.edu/~oldschr/mn404 - For a company that held auctions over a satellite
system - advise the company on how to upgrade systems for faster service, and a
more stable environment. We had to weigh the cost and benefits of all types of
systems. Ranging from whether to go to a low earth orbiting satellite or adopt a Wide
Area Network, using either a 10 Base T Ethernet, or a Cable Modem or DSL line.
http://ec.business.auburn.edu:210 - For an e-commerce class - construct a shopping cart
that used Active Server Pages (ASP) as the CGI connection to a back-end Access
database. The group took the web page from conception to implementation; we
used Microsoft Access in designing the product database. Used ASP scripting in
order to keep up with orders throughout the pages so the customer could check out.
