Welcome to the Biggio CenterFor the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning
Welcome to the Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, established through funding from the estate of Alvin A. and Mila Biggio. Since programming began in Fall 2003, our overall mission has been to promote the professional growth and development of faculty, graduate teaching assistants, and administrative and professional staff in support of teaching and learning excellence. The Biggio Center focuses on three goals: professional development, instructional development, and organizational development. While uses of these terms often overlap in higher education, each retains something in common: the use of existing institutional resources and structures to their full potential by viewing and using them in creative ways. These resources and structures include faculty, staff, courses, and programs; when educators are aware of the possibilities these resources become self-renewing. The Biggio Center's vision is to develop a campus culture that prizes student-centered learning, evidence-based teaching, diversity, and educational technology. We encourage you to visit the Biggio Center through this website and in person at our offices in 4011 R. B. Draughon Library
