Welcome! Thank you for visiting.

LAB EQUIPMENT

This page highlights the work of the graduate students in the Mills Research Group.  The table below lists the current group members and their research projects.  You can email group members and look at their personal web pages also.  Use the links to the left to read summaries of each project (Current Research Projects) and see the citations for published papers (Recent Publications).

If you are a prospective graduate student, you might be interested to know that former group members have gone on to very successful careers.  In December 2000, two members of the Mills research group graduated with doctoral degrees.  Following graduation, Kurt Winkelmann received a postdoctoral research position at Northwestern University and Kelly Malone works at IBM in New York.  Lieutenant Commander Rob Calhoun spent two years with our group and received a Master's Degree in Chemistry with the support of the U.S. Navy.  He then returned to active duty.  John DeBortoli collaborated with Dr. Mills and Dr. Lewis Slaten in Auburn's Department of Consumer Affairs and received a Master's Degree in Textile Engineering in 1997.  He is working as a materials engineer with Lucent Technologies.  Sheila Thornton-Weaver received her Ph.D. in 1996 and now works at DuPont Chemical.

Our group always includes several undergraduate students who contribute to the research projects listed below.  They gain real laboratory experience before they graduate and their work is greatly appreciated.  If you are studying chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering and want to learn what scientific research is really all about (and receive credit for CH490--Undergraduate Research), contact Dr. Jimmy Mills.
