In March of 1974 Dr. Kaminsky was appointed as Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at the University of New England. He was promoted to the level of Senior Lecturer in 1980.
During his tenure at the University he was responsible for the Centre's introductory foundations Course and for courses in philosophy of education, anthropology and multicultural education, and social policy. He also contributed to the Centre's sociology courses.
He was an active administrator in the affairs of his department, faculty and university. He was the convener of the department's seminar series and was acting head of department on many occasions. He played an active part in the administration of the faculty as a member of Standing Committee from 1977-1988, Chair of the Research Programme, and Associate Dean. He also had significant experience in university administration as a member of the Academic Board of the university.
His research during this period was published in Educational Theory, The Journal of Educational Administration, The Journal of Educational Thought, The Australian Journal of Education, and other places.
Dr. Kaminsky was executive editor of Educational Philosophy and Theory.
