Topic:
Library Use: Member Names

Standard:
Members in libraries shall be appropriately named.

Procedures:
If work is being done for purposes of being put into production, it should be given the name under which it will reside in production. If this is a new job, assign it a name consistent with other names in the same system. Record this name and a description of the job under option "D.5" of SPX.

If it is necessary to have multiple versions of the same program in test, assign a single letter suffix to distinguish different versions. Normally an "X" suffix is used (e.g., ZZ0130AX for ZZ0130A).

If a program or job is not intended for production, assign it a name based on its request number. For example, if request #2988 requires a single program that will not go into production, it should be named REQ2988A and its associated JCL should be named REQ2988. If there is no request, fill in a Request for Application Development/Maintenance (form DUC15).

Notes:
Requests are tracked under AIMS.
