SCT Application System Tape Installation

Tape Handling

The installation tape provided by SCT is normally a cartridge tape. If it is a reel tape, contact the SCT Ordering Department to change Auburn University's records to receive cartridge tapes. Periodically the records seem to get changed from cartridge to reel and must be re-updated.

An immediate problem occurs with cartridge tapes. The tape numbering scheme used by SCT conflicts with AU's internal numbering scheme. This can be resolved by always specifying UNIT=EXTTAPE.

The SCT tape cannot be used without making adequate security arrangements. You must request and receive IGNORE and BYPASS LABEL PROCESSING security from the RACF Administrator. This security is specific to a particular tape, so be sure to provide the serial number of the SCT tape.

Once you have completed use of the SCT-provided tape, pick it up from the machine room and store it in the documentation area in case it is needed at some future time.

The SCT guide provides JCL to do the initial unload from the tape. JCL already exists to do this. It resides in the ISP32 library with a name of IAUNLOAD.
