Graduate Classes Taught: Research Program:

Dr. Hastie's research program follows two main lines of inquiry. The first examines the ecology of physical education settings. Ecological studies examine the inter-relationship between teacher instruction, the academic tasks of the class, and the students responses.

A second line of inquiry focuses on the Sport Education curriculum and instruction model. Research in this field examines the model in terms of students and teachers responses to the model, the development of student competence, and development of appropriate social behaviors. Dr. Hastie has contributed a number of book chapters on this topic and is a co-author in the text "The Complete Guide to Sport Education", with Professor Daryl Siedentop and Dr. Hans van der Mars.
