I am originally from Pine Mountain, Georgia; however, as my father was career military, we had a "new" home and a "new" school, or two, every year until I was thirteen. We then returned to Pine Mountain; I graduated from Harris County High and attended Columbus College for two years. After my Sophomore year, I transferred to the University of Georgia in Athens where I received my B.B.A., M..B.A.., and Ph.D. in Marketing and have been a member of the Auburn University faculty ever since.

In 1967, I married my best friend since fifth grade. Mary and I have lived in rural Chambers County near Waverly since my coming to A.U. We have two married children and four absolutely adorable granddaughters. Our leisure time is focused on activities involving family, friends, and Church.

Since joining the Auburn University faculty in 1973 I have taught both graduates and undergraduates in marketing management, research, strategic planning, analytic methods, and Internet technology. Course topics change with shifts in curricula, but my emphasis has always followed a managerial, decision-making approach with the primary thrust being the development of critical thought processes.

In the past I have pursued a variety of academic research interests. These efforts have been dominated by three distinct streams of inquiry. My earliest work was in methodologies for analyzing time dimensioned phenomena. Next I worked on survey response behaviors; and, more recently, I have been involved with comparative business ethics. My current interests focus on reverse cycle distribution and on two-way electronic marketing.

Over the years I have consulted for numerous companies, primarily financial institutions, land developers, and international importers. I have been awarded grants at the college, university, and state levels; the most substantial of these have been in developing site selection algorithms and in determining optimum replacement cycles for over-the-road tractors. As an active participant in the College of Business Executive Development Programs, I have designed and given seminars in customer service, inventory control, and competitive strategy for the utility, banking, and hospital pharmacy industries
