Outreach

TigerFit Program Director:

TigerFit is a curriculum-based program designed to provide hands-on training for Health & Human Performance students and to provide

comprehensive health and fitness profiles for university employees, public safety personnel, alumni and citizens of East Alabama. Other objectives of

the TigerFit program are to conduct research in cardiovascular disease risk reduction through exercise. The TigerFit Program is a collaborative effort

between the Department of Health & Human Performance, Baptist Health Care Family Medicine Residency Program and Hughston Clinic.  Health and

fitness assessments include a physician exam, complete blood profile, pulmonary function & body composition assessments, graded exercise test with

blood pressure and ECG and an orthopedic evaluation. Clients are provided their results and an individualized exercise prescription.  Client groups

have included the Lee County Sheriff's Department, Auburn University Police and the Auburn City Fire and Police Departments.  Since it's initiation in

the Spring of 2001, over 1100 health & fitness assessments have been conducted.
