Fall Meeting Minutes October 15, 1999/ 10:00 a.m. Langdon Hall

Meeting was called to order by Patrice Benson (chair), who introduced Dr. William V. Muse. He spoke to us on the State of the University. He went over the 5 year plan as it relates to the staff at Auburn University. He emphasized the importance of staff employees in the success of this plan. Other items that were brought up in his address were: Semester transition, Professional Enhancement Program, in house promotional opportunities, issues of separate Human Resources systems (AU and Facilities), and Outsourcing at the University. Dr. Muse did not say directly that this program is mandatory, but hopes that everyone will take advantage of this training opportunity. At the present time, there are no plans for punitive action if an individual does not "certify", but "Certification" may later become a part of the Personal Evaluation Procedure. The two areas that have already been outsourced (health and food) are the only ones that will be done at this time. Other areas may be outsourced in the future if further study indicates that it would be in the best interest of the University. The floor was opened for brief questions for Dr. Muse and Mr. Drake. Meeting was adjourned.
