Objectives. This course provides educators with an introduction to the
classification and biology of insects and related arthropods, as well as important aspects of their
interactions among each other and among other organisms, including humans. In the laboratory students increase their
"biological sophistication" by learning to recognize important external structural components of the insect body,
the major insect groups, and 66 insect families. The laboratory also instructs students in the making of an insect collection.
This, and an Entomological Exposition help educators develop expertise and materials that can be taken directly to the classroom.

I excuse absences for the following reasons: a. Illness of the student or serious illness of a member of the student’s immediate family. Written documentation may be required. e. Any other reason the instructor deems appropriate. If students do not have a memo, they should schedule an appointment with a member of the professional staff in that office (1244 Haley Center, 844-2096). |
