In the lecture, students engage in comparative study of external and internal morphological features of insects and related arthropods and gain an understanding of the importance of these features to phylogeny, classification and physiology. In the lab, students develop the ability to prepare specimens for observation of these features and to produce accurate, high quality biological illustrations.
