Strategic Teaching for Improved Performance of Students

(TIPS) in Reading

Strategic TIPS in Reading is a joint project between Auburn University's Colleges of Education and Liberal Arts, the Auburn University at Montgomery School of Education and the Alabama Reading Initiative. The project is funded by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education. The goal of the project is to improve reading instruction and achieve 100 percent literacy among public high school students. Currently, this project is serving Chambers County educators and students. The project will continue through the 2009-2010 school year.

Powerpoints

Professional development workshops are being held with the teachers and administrators to help build knowledge of using literacy as inquiry in education across all the content areas. During these workshops, teachers and administrators are engaged in hands on activities and experiences that have proven effective in improving student reading comprehension.
