In addition, there is a comprehensive final worth 200 points. Each exam counts, and NO grades will be dropped. There will be no extra credit. Grades will be computed as follows, and there will be NO curving of grades: A 450 - 500 points B 400 - 449 points C 350 - 399 points D 300 - 349 points F 0 - 299 points You will have TWO CLASS DAYS from the date that an exam is returned to check the exam and look for errors in grading. If errors in the grading are found, highlight them in yellow and hand the entire exam back in to be checked. Exams that have not been picked up within two class days after the exam has been returned will be destroyed. Makeups for missed exams will be only given in the following two cases. In all other cases, the exam counts 0 points.: Sickness: In case of a sudden sickness, it suffices to call me, send an email, or leave a message with the Mathematics Department (844-4290) on the day of the exam. This message has to be received before the exam is over. Failure to contact me or the Mathematics Department before the exam is over will result in loss of the privilege to take a makeup exam. Furthermore, you need to show a statement by a physician that you were too sick to attend school on the day of the exam. Without a physician's excuse, no makeup will be given. Scheduled visits to a physician's or dentist's office are NOT a valid excuse for missing an exam. Please reschedule the visit. University Excuses: Students have to show all documentation verifying the excuse before the exam. Student athletes have to make arrangements with the Athletics Department for having the exam proctored if they cannot take the exam in class at the scheduled time. The time and place of makeups will be announced in class. It is your responsibility to obtain this information if you are absent when it is announced. You will be responsible for all your work. I will NOT communicate with your parents concerning your performance. Federal law does not permit me to share any information with them. FINAL: The final will be May 2, 2008 from 9:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Do not purchase airplane tickets to leave before this date. This is not a valid excuse to miss the final, nor are weddings (even your own!). ATTENDANCE: Auburn University requires class attendance. You will be assigned a seat, and your attendance will be checked by determining if your seat is occupied. If you arrive late to class or leave before the end of class, you will be counted as absent. If you have more than three unexcused absences, you will receive the grade FA regardless of your performance. An absence will be excused only if you can provide a University excuse or missed class due to a documented sickness. This excuse has to be shown the next time you attend class. Scheduled visits to a physician's office do NOT constitute an excused absence. Please reschedule the visit. Seat assignments will NOT be changed unless you have a documented disability that requires you to have a different seat. Dishonesty: Any academic dishonesty will be reported to the Academic Honesty Committee. Students with Disabilities: Please contact me as soon as possible.
