Auburn University is excited about the new operating system being release by Microsoft, Windows Vista. However, due to compatibility issues with central campus resources, it has been agreed upon by the administration as well as the college deans and the Office of Information Technology that the migration on campus will be delayed. The release date will be updated as the applications become compatible with the new operating system.

- Curtail AU purchase opportunities
- Purchasing Office inform computer supplier contract holders not to configure Vista as an option
- Lease program operators restrict Vista

Minimum Hardware Requirements
A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:
- 2.4 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor.
- 2 GB of system memory.
- Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum), Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel.
- 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
- DVD-ROM Drive.
- Audio output capability.
- Internet access capability.
