Connor Dobson is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, specializing in Biomedical Engineering. He has also been a cooperative education student in the Innovations department at Noramco, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson site and most recently performed microfluidics research at Friedrich-Schiller Universität Jena in Jena, Germany. His research interests include drug delivery, diagnostics, and novel medical technologies. Under the guidance of Dr. Robert Arnold in the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Connor researches nanocomposite drug delivery systems for cancer therapy and diagnosis. In 2015 he was awarded the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship in recognition of his achievements and potential as a researcher. He is also the founder and president of the Auburn chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society and is currently starting the Auburn University 3-Design Lab (AU3DL), which is intended to give Auburn students open access to 3D printing technology. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, Auburn athletics, reading, and surfing during the summer. He plans to pursue a doctorate in Chemical or Biomedical Engineering.
Ellen Rankins is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences – Equine Science. Her research focus is on equine movement under the guidance of Dr. Wagner and Dr. Weimar. Within the College of Agriculture, she is an officer and active member in both Ag Ambassadors and Block and Bridle. During her spare time, she can be found volunteering and teaching at Storybook Farm, a therapeutic riding center, where she is dedicated to bringing “Hope On Horseback” to their special riders.
